Bridge to Somewhere

The subject of this photo is a bridge that connects two green spaces across a
small stream. Bridges have been used for centuries, since people came up
with the idea of using a log to cross water. As we can see, the bridge in this
photo is more advanced than that, but one of the things I like about this photo
is the fact that it is timeless, because wooden bridges have been used for so long..

The composition is such that the bridge is the obvious focal point, and the
angle in which the photograph was taken shows the stream coming in from the
bottom-right corner, while also showing the bridge’s surroundings. Because of
this photograph’s lighting, we can see that it is a sunny day, but that it is also
that it is a cool time of the day because the tall trees that surround the bridge
are blocking the sun.

One interesting part of this photo I found is that it leaves the viewer wondering
why there is such a big and sturdy-looking bridge relative to the size of the
stream and the amount of water it holds. This would tell the viewer that the
bridge probably serves some important purpose, because there wouldn’t be
many reasons why someone would build a nice bridge across a small stream.
The viewer also wonders about the location of this bridge, and whether it is in
the middle of nowhere or whether it is close to a city.

If you continue to observe the photo, you might have gathered that the stream
usually holds more water than it is holding in this image. Looking closely at the
photo, we can see that the stream is not very wide, so an unknown mystery in
this photo is the depth of the water that the stream is holding. The viewer also
has to imagine what is on the other side of the bridge.

This photo is insightful because we can all relate to this bridge because of how
bridges have been used represent a safe crossing through the path of life. Just
as there are often two ways to get to one place in the world, there are often two
ways to accomplish something in our life. This photo reflects the fact that
someone who is at a crossroads in their life could choose to either cross an
obstacle the dangerous way or go over it the safe way.
